Strategic Plan 2010-13

Executive Summary

Y-gen's long term strategy is to establish itself as an effective voluntary sector organisation providing high quality transition and skills support services to children and young people across the United Kingdom.  Our future plans are to build on our current strengths to provide added value services to a growing customer base across the children and young people's services sector and further develop our work around existing projects.

Y-gen is a dynamic company with a sound infrastructure, good performance record, positive relationships with young people and families and a good safety record.  Our greatest strength is our committed staff team who are hardworking, caring and dedicated to working towards the advancement of children and young people.  Y-gen staff are professional, well trained, knowledgeable and skilled.  They follow things through and complete tasks to a high standard.

Our goals and priorities for 2010-13 are to raise the charity's profile and develop new markets, bring in new business, invest in the continuous professional development of our staff, demonstrate high performance and ensure effective corporate governance.  This plan sets out how we intend to achieve this.

In 3 year's time Y-gen will be operating from a variety of premises.  It will have annual income of £3 million and will employ over 50 full time equivalent staff and support 100's of volunteers.  Y-gen will offer a limited number of core products and provide added value services to a large customer base across the London children and young people's services sector.

Y-gen will have its own research and development department which will influence policy makers, commissioners and service providers.  Y-gen's products will be of a high quality, technically advanced, developed in partnership with service users and offer many clear cut advantages and improvements over competitors' products.  Y-gen will continue to expand through organic growth and a developmental recruitment policy.
