Preparing for the Assessment

There are only a few things you need to do to prepare for your Youth Mark Assessment:

  • Ensure that you have the agreement of the leader of the organisation to undertake a Youth Mark assessment.
  • Identify a lead contact person.
  • Attend a scoping meeting to agree practical arrangements such as when and where staff and young people will be interviewed as part of the assessment process.
  • Agree to complete the assessment process within the agreed timescales.
  • Communicate to staff and young people that you will be having a Youth Mark assessment and of their involvement in the assessment process.
  • Make available resources to support the assessment process such as rooms for meetings and assessment interviews.
  • Support arrangements for staff and young people to be interviewed as part of the assessment process.
  • Agree to the use of assessment information for evaluative research and promotional purposes in an anonymous form if necessary.
